Torr's Page

Torr's owner, Carol Huckle, kindly provided us with the
following description of her handsome boy...
Charbonny
Uproar (Torr)
"I
originally wanted Torr for obedience; however, it was clear from the start that
whilst Torr was capable to delivering a good working round, other interests such
as girls got the better of him.
He could be working in obedience or agility and if a pretty girl caught
his eye at the corner of the ring “ding dong” and he would dash over to make
mad passionate love to them. Therefore
his working life was very short as quite simply we could not keep his attention
on us in the ring.
On the beauty side, he had considerable
success qualifying in every class he was entered.
The late
Carol
ine Harvey said “he just shows himself”
At the tender age of 7 months he qualified for Crufts at Bournemouth
Championship Show, and the following year at Crufts in SpYD he won his class
with the judge stating “He is a big dog but his head handled well.
Good ears, good topline, in good coat and condition”
He went on to win numerous other classes eventually obtaining his stud
book number.
On the working side, due to his sex
drive, he continued to prove challenging and we had our most success using the
clicker training method. He
won his novice in obedience at 2 years of age, with the judge write up stating
“A super, well motivated dog” On
the same day, in his first class at an Agility Show he came 21st out
of 250 in an open class and was in very good company, with a lot more experience
handlers. No girls on the sidelines
that day!
We continue to work Torr in our field where he is not distracted by the ladies
and he does so enjoy it. The power
of him working is a pleasure to watch. However,
the one other constant in the whole of his life is his wonderful temperament.
I have always stated that Torr is a sensible down to earth dog.
When
Carol
ine Harvey and
Pat Amos
carried out the Fisher and Vohard Puppy Personality Profile
on Torr at 7 weeks of age, the profile indicated a strong character and with
even temperament that could match a guide dog.
Nothing spooks him, if he comes across anything strange; he weighs it all
up and just deals with it in a calm way. This
side of his temperament has really come into its own this year, when my Mother
due to numerous strokes had to go into a special care home.
The residents range from being gregarious to timid depending on their
state of health or dementia and Torr takes it all in his stride and just very
happy to be there. He brings them
such pleasure from just looking at him to high squeals of pleasure and lots of
hands on. If I had time, he would
make such an excellent pat dog.
In this last year, I have been thinking
that I would so love to use Torr as a stud dog purely down to his temperament, I
would like his genetics out there somewhere and I am so grateful to Ian for
giving us this opportunity."

Now we've all got our fingers crossed
that it all works out!!!
