Amanda
Cable, BA Hons. DipCABT
Amanda has an Advanced
Diploma in Practical Aspects of Companion Animal Behaviour and Training awarded
by the Centre of Applied Pet Ethology (COAPE).
She also has an intermediate award certificate in canine behaviour.
As well as having gained a certificate in Intelligent Horsemanship with
Kelly Marks and an Advanced Riding Diploma at the Stud Farm and Equestrian
Centre, Lipicia.
With
experience of different dogs, cats and horses some of which have been rescued a
flexible approach is taken, applying the appropriate kind positive training
techniques to each individual case.
Experience of owning and training animals and being in touch with the latest
information; for example; behaviour cognition and learning theories in different
species have enabled her to more effectively help pets with behaviour problems
and enhance the relationship between humans and pets. By Applying a structured
logical approach which does not just focus on the symptoms but examines
underlying causes of discontent for example; diet, exercise taken - the overall
contentment level of the animal’s daily life can improve and also help
reduce/extinguish undesirable behaviours.

Training
We train in a relaxed and friendly environment with several acres at our
disposal. Our aim is for you and
your dog to have fun using kind, motivational reward-based techniques.
We keep classes small but also offer one to one training sessions
tailored to meet the level you wish to reach with your dog.
Our private outdoor training area is well away from a road, secure and
fully fenced. It ideally suits not
only the more experienced agility dog but also dogs just starting their training
where you can confidently practise recalls and basic control exercises.
Behaviour
Animals
learn through reward and reinforcement. This
needs to be motivational to the animal concerned and sometimes communication and
trust between human and animal breaks down creating problems. It is our aim to
help resolve or manage your pet’s problems.
For some behaviour problems it will be necessary for a vet to examine
your pet before a consultation is arranged.
Medical causes for your dog’s behaviour need to be eliminated first.
Attached is a veterinary behaviour form. Before a consultation is
arranged you will be sent a questionnaire and on completion of this an
appointment will be arranged. An
assessment of your dog’s behaviour will then be undertaken using the EMRA
approach and a suitable behaviour modification programme will be initiated to
resolve or manage your pet’s behaviour.
